Victor Vumbanyama fouled out in his highly-anticipated NBA debut, but the San Antonio Spurs kept the Dallas Mavericks close through the first three quarters.

Vumbanyama, a 2023 NBA Draft pick, fouled out four times in the first half and played just six minutes. Early in the fourth quarter, he picked up his fifth foul and was disqualified from the game.

Despite the absence of Wimbanyama, the Spurs trailed by just one point in the fourth quarter. Devin Vassell had 18 points and six rebounds, while Zach Collins had 15 points and five caps.

The Spurs will have to overcome the absence of Wimbanyama and foul trouble if they want to win their season opener against the Mavericks.
